Feel

Feel is a song I wrote about the discomfort and opportunity of loneliness. It’s natural to try to numb or suppress uncomfortable feelings; to run away, however possible; but yogis and seers over millennia have pointed out that this feeling of loneliness can offer powerful insight and spiritual transformation. As the theologian and writer Henri Nouwen says: “To live a spiritual life we must first find the courage to enter into the desert of our loneliness and to change it by gentle and persistent efforts into a garden of solitude…As hard as it is to believe that the dry desolate desert can yield endless varieties of flowers, it is equally hard to imagine that our loneliness is hiding unknown beauty.” The song features a verse in Sanskrit spoken by Shri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu who expresses spiritual longing; complete surrender unto the Beloved and acceptance of all states of being, pleasure or pain.
